Projects & process

How working with Claw Labs actually works.

How does a typical project start?

Usually with a quick chat by email or call. You tell me what you’re trying to achieve, what you have already, if anything, and what your budget roughly looks like. From there, I’ll suggest a simple plan and outline for the project.

Who will I be working with?

You’ll be working directly with one person — the designer/developer behind Claw Labs. No account managers, no being passed around. You always know who you’re talking to.

Do you only work with people in South Wales?

No — while I’m based in South Wales, I’m happy to work with clients across the UK as long as communication works well online. Everything can be done via email, video call where useful and the client portal.

Can we keep everything email-only or message-based?

Yes — absolutely. A lot of people prefer not to jump on calls, and that’s completely fine. We can handle the entire project through email and your private client portal if that suits you better.

The portal keeps messages, files, updates and support requests in one calm place, so nothing gets lost and you can reply whenever it suits you. If a quick call would genuinely help at any point, we can decide that together — no pressure.

Do I need to provide photos and content?

In most cases, yes — clients usually provide their own photos, even good phone photos are often fine, plus any key details like services, opening times, pricing and contact info.

If you’re missing bits, don’t worry — I can guide you on what to gather, help you choose the best images and suggest simple improvements. For local projects, we can also talk about basic on-site photos if needed, but it’s always optional and depends on the project.

Either way, everything stays organised — you can upload files and content into your private client portal once we start.

Timelines, revisions & scope

What to expect in terms of time and changes.

How long does a website take?

It depends on the size and how quickly we can gather content. A focused small-business website usually takes a few weeks, while larger sites with more pages and features can take longer. During the quote stage, I’ll always give you a realistic timeline based on your specific project.

How many revisions do I get?

Most projects include at least one main round of feedback on the design and another round after build. The goal is to get things right without endless tiny changes. If you need lots of extra revisions, we can either extend the scope or move ongoing tweaks into a care plan.

What if my project grows in scope halfway through?

It happens. If new ideas come up that significantly add time or complexity, we’ll pause, talk it through and agree either a phase two or an adjusted quote. No surprise invoices.

Pricing & payment

How money is handled and what to expect.

How do you price projects?

For most work, I use fixed-price project fees based on the time, complexity and value involved. The ranges on the Pricing page give you a rough idea, and your quote will spell out exactly what’s included.

Do you require a deposit?

Yes. Most projects start with a deposit, often 30–50%, before design and build begins, with the remainder due on completion or milestone stages. This keeps things fair for both sides.

Can we work together if my budget is small?

Potentially, yes. If the full Launch Sprint is not the right fit yet, we can talk honestly about the smallest sensible phase one, what should wait, and whether Claw Labs is the right option for you.

How do I pay?

Payments are typically handled via bank transfer or online invoice. In the future, you’ll also be able to pay through the Claw Labs client portal.

Tech, tools & ownership

What’s used under the hood and who owns what.

What platforms or tech do you use?

It depends on the project — simple sites might use lightweight static setups, while more advanced work might use modern frameworks and custom dashboards. The main thing: I’ll choose a setup that suits your needs, not just the fanciest thing possible.

Will I be able to update my own site?

Yes — at a minimum, you’ll be able to request changes through your client portal. For some builds, self-editing can also be added if it makes sense for the project.

Who owns the website or app after it’s built?

Once the project is paid for, you own the final design and build for your website or app, excluding any third-party tools, libraries or licensed assets. You’re not “locked in” — though hopefully you’ll want to keep working together.

Care plans & support

What happens after launch.

Do I have to be on a care plan?

No — care plans are optional. They simply make it easier to keep your site or app updated, backed up and supported. If you prefer to handle everything yourself, that’s fine too.

What if something breaks?

If you’re on a care plan, we’ll usually sort issues as part of your support allowance. If you’re not, we can quote for fixes as a one-off support job. Either way, you won’t be ignored.

How do I contact you for support?

You’ll be able to raise support requests through the client portal once your project is active, or via email if needed. Support tickets help keep everything organised and trackable for both of us.

Still have a question?

If something isn’t clear, just ask. Send a quick message with your question and I’ll reply with a simple, honest answer — no jargon, no pressure.
